Wrong Drivers License Number Of Speeding Ticket
    Hi

I got pulled over by an officer in Washington and was issued a speeding ticket for going 44 mph on a 25 mph zone. I just moved here from Texas and I still have my Texas drivers license.

On the citation, the officer screwed up and wrote down a completely different number on the drivers license field than what he should have. I'm guessing he misread the drivers license.

What are my chances of getting this dismissed for this reason?

Slim to none since that has nothing to do with the violation. If you get lucky, TX will not bother to track down the correct number but that is unlikely if the name and address are correct.

Well, the address according to my drivers license is not correct.

I told the officer I had just moved to Washington and that I had just gotten a new apartment I would be moving into soon. So that new address is what he wrote down as my address on the citation, instead of what is on my drivers license.

Once I pay the ticket and all the background work is done by the corresponding clerks, what are the chances of insurance companies finding out about the ticket?

He told me to ask the judge for a deferral, but since I don't think this will end up on my record, would it be best to wait in case I get another citation?

    Thanks

No way to really know. You just have to pick and see what happens. If you go ahead and get your WA license before court it may never make the round trip.
