Emancipation For A Child Who Is Out Of Control
I have a daughter that is 16 years old and lives with her mother. I pay child support for this chuld and have for 15 years. She is out of her mothers control and refuses to come home or go to school. She basically runs the streets and stays with friends. Her mother does not use the child support for her because she is never home. Is it possible to have this child emancipated and have the child support dropped? We live in Onondaga County in New York.

    Re: Emancipation
First NY has no statute for process. 2nd they is no way on Earth a judge would grant a petition for emancipation to a child with her problems. What needs to be done is she needs to have her butt dragged home and if need be place her in boot camp or something. You might also consider petition for change of custody as her Mother clearly is not helping her. the life your child is leading at this point could result in her death or many other negative consequences. emancipation is NOT the answer
