Shoplifting Or Not?

Sorry if this is a dumb question...if someone opens an item in a large grocery store (example, bag of chips) then places it down (item less than $3.00) , gets the items they need...proceeds to the register and pays for them with a credit card. Then leaves the store. Not stopped by store security or anything. But probably on video. What are the chances of there being either civil demand or the store getting the cops involved? Buddy mine told me this, and I am wondering if he has issues.

Ok explain how they knew you did this and failed to stop you? Are you assuming retailers go through hours and hours of video each day on the possibilty they might have missed a theft? Of course they would also need a means to ID you as well.

So what your saying is if there was no attempt to stop him...they dont know? I mean opening a package is obvious, especially when cameras are everywhere...thanks.

What I am saying is if you were not stopped there is a high likihood you were not seen doing this. Consider that a gift and not do it again
