how does a person request a change of power of attorney or do away with it altogether?
If the person is still mentally competent, they can revoke a power of attorney (POA) they issued. They would notify the holder of the POA that it is revoked, and, to decrease the possibility that it would nonetheless be used, notify any financial institutions (or other entities) where the person might attempt to use the POA that it is no longer valid.
