Can My Employer Sponsor Me For Permanent Residence
Hello, i am in the United states (Orlando, Florida) for the last one year and a half with h2b visa as an unskilled worker. i am aware that i can extend the visa up to three years (i have 1 year and a half more). My question is - can my current employer be my sponsor for a permanent residence based on employment (under the E3 classification) or is there any other possibility for my employer to keep us working for him longer even with other visa? Thank you in advance

    Re: H2B Visa Issue
Should we assume that you're an Australian national? If you're not a citizen of Australia, you can't get an E-3 visa. You cannot apply for an E-3 visa from within the U.S.

It is my understanding that, having maxed out your HB2 time, before you get another employment visa you will have to leave the United States. You may be able to get a B-1/B-2 visa, but that's of limited utility to you.
