Reducing A Misdemeanor
A particular webpage states the following concerning New York laws:
"There are certain instances where a misdemeanor conviction may be reduced to a violation after the period of probation is over and all the terms are completed. If this occurs, then the sealing of records will also occur pursuant to law."
My question is... does anyone know where they got this from? I've tried calling and e-mailing the person who stated this, but I haven't been able to get through to anyone. I'd love to know if reducing the misdemeanor is truly possible.
Also, how would a person go about filing a motion to reduce a misdemeanor conviction to a violation? I've looked around the NY Courts website, but I can't figure it out. Since I don't live in NY, getting a NY attorney isn't easy. However, I thought if I needed to simply file a motion, I could do that on a trip.
Any advice or suggestions are always appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Reducing Misdemeanor
That's a California-based firm, so they probably derived the statement from California law and court procedure.

Re: Reducing Misdemeanor
So I imagine there's no New York provision to reduce the charge?
I saw they were a California-based firm, but silly me... I thought a law firm would do a little research before posting something like this.
