Re: 17 And In Need Of Advice
Nothing in your posts suggest you would be successful in an emancipation petition providing your state has a statute. You should be calling CPS though as they will likely get you the help your asking about

Hello,
I live in Virginia with both of my parents. I need some advice. I have been thinking about getting emancipated for the past year because I am 17 and my parents seem to think that I am old enough to do everything for myself. My boyfriend buys my clothes and pays for my dinner 3/4 of the time. I havent been to the dentist or the doctor in over 5 years because they think it is too expensive, even though my mother goes to the doctor at least twice a month for something or another. I have been trying to sign out of school so that I may get a job to support myself, but my school system isn't allowing any students to sign out. No one in my family is able to help me because there isn't anything they can do. For the past week I have had the Flu and my parents refused to seek medical attention. Today my boyfriend told my parents that they could either make an appointment for me or he would take my to the free clinic and tell them I might be pregnant just so I could see a doctor. I have considered calling social services to report my parents, but I only have less than one year before i am of legal age. Any advice will help...:wallbang:

Yes, contact SS - if you believe your parents are neglecting your health care.
Don't lie to your parents by telling them you might be pregnant.
You can also discuss the problems you are having at home with the school guidance counselor.
You shouldn't be trying to sign yourself out of school to find a job.

thank you for your quick response. I just wanted to clarify that I didn't lie to my parents about being pregnant, I meant that the only other way the health care system would see me is if there was a chance that I could be pregnant.

You could also see the school nurse for your health issues.
