Re: Crazy Room Mate MUST Go!!
You take Chad and his parents to small claims court.
Re: Crazy Room Mate MUST Go!!
since we just paid rent on the 1st, Chad tells me yesterday he's "moving out" and I need to pro rate his rent. I guess he expects me to give him money back? I will not do it. The wall is not fixed, my couch is ruined, my carpeting needs cleaned. I don't think he gets the fact that he ran into the house causing a hole in the house!!!!! And what about my utilities? He owes almost $500 for those, plus this months. And now he tells me his parents are going to sue me for the $2500....they are as stupid as he is, I assume they thought he was living rent free for the first month??:wallbang:
Re: Crazy Room Mate MUST Go!!
And then they can take you to small claims court.

I need his parents to pay for the damage to the house first.
Why would the parents be liable for the damage Chad caused?
Does Chad have auto insurance? File a claim, that should cover the damage to the home he caused by driving into it.

He's also claiming I have to pay his parents back the $2500 he borrowed from them?
What do you have to do with the loan between Chad and his parents?

I've asked him did he not realize that he had to pay a security deposit and he also had to pay rent the first month?
What did he say?
Re: Crazy Roommate Must Go
Chad's parents pay everything for him...when he hit the house I made him call and tell them, I asked his parents if they wanted to file an insurance claim and they said no, they would just pay for the damages. Chad has no money, has never worked, his parent's support him.
His claim is that the money HE borrowed he gave to me, well he did, for his part of the rent and his part of the security. He thinks I should have to pay that back???
He is a complete drunken moron. He has no concept of utilities and rent. He's been in school now for 4 years and he has flunked out, his parents don't know yet....this is the reason they pay for him....because he is supposed to be a full time student...he's a full time xbox player who drinks non stop.

Chad is not a minor, his parents don't have to pay for anything, but they are doing that by choice.
You do seem quite upset, and I can understand why. If the parents have agreed to pay, then submit a bill to them so that can get resolved.
Otherwise, tell them it needs to be submitted to the insurance company so it can be fixed.

He borrowed = his loan.

Take Chad to small claims court for what he owes. His parents would not be a part of the suit.
Re: Crazy Roommate Must Go
You're very nice Happy Trails.....thank you for trying to help me decipher this mess.
And you're right, I am upset, everything here at the house is in my name, and his lack of bill paying is starting to affect my credit. I can't afford to keep paying for him, he turns the air/furnace n and will open the sliding door and leave it like that all day while we're at work. He just has no respect.I just want Chad gone.

It sounds like a bad situation and it doesn't appear that Chad is going to get any better.
This site may be of some help to you:

I don't know the type of agreement you made with him, but hopefully that site will give you some answers on how to get him out of there. You can also find answers on suing him in small claims court.
He has a lot of growing up to do and that is not your responsibilty.
Re: Crazy Roommate Must Go
am I his landlord since he pays his rent directly to me, then I deal with my landlord?
