Dental Bill From Ten Years Ago, in Virginia
    Hello,

I received a warrant in debt from a dental bill that I accrued 10yrs ago and did not even have a clue of until recently. I have a few questions:

    1. I read that the statute of limitations has passed but because I feel morally obligated to pay, I tried to settle for $600 of the $1k owed. They declined. Why so?

    2. I filed for bankruptcy and was discharged in 2005. Can I forward this debt to be included?

    3. Since I filed for bankruptcy, I have been trying to guard my credit report from any detrimental information such as this. The court date is not until the 3rd week in January. Is this information now in my credit report or does it go when a decision has been made by judge?

    4. I plan to go to court to fight my case. I am having the hardest time obtaining a copy of documentation from the dentist office and they claim that their system does not go that far back. The documentation I have notes that there is a balance forward in 2002 but nothing before that indicating when the actual charges were incurred. How can I get this documentation more efficiently?

    Please help! Thanks!

    1. Because they think they can get more money.

    2. Maybe. We don't have any information about your bankruptcy or discharge. Ask your bankruptcy lawyer.

    3. Order your credit report and see what appears.

    4. Try to get the information through the discovery process when you litigate the case.
