    Renter Has Disappeared - Abandonment?
The Great State of Mississippi . . .
I rented an apartment to a young lady on a week to week basis with the agreement: pay rent on Friday or move out on Saturday. This is the agreement with all of my renters and noone yet has had a problem.
The renter paid the first week of november rent with a money ordera week late, that I still have not cashed. She was was out of town.
It is now the end of december. There has been no response from mutliple phone calls, the mail is filling up the box. I talked with her boyfriend who has on occasion paid rent for her . . . he says he hasn't heard from her either but says she is in Kansas. A mutual acquantiance also says she is in Kansas. The boyfriend, who works out of state, said he would be in on the 21st of Dec. No contact with him yet .. . says the tv.s are his. I live at the property and have not seen her or her family who visited often . . .
So today the 22nd I went over to the apartment . . . clothes, food, stuff, power is still on, all this is there like she just went to the store or something. On the table in the foryer there was and envelope addressed to me with a money order dated dec 1 for 1 week's rent. Now she 5 weeks behind in rent; what can I do?
I need to rent this place so I can pay my own bills. . ..

You can evict your tenant for failure to pay rent. Forms may be available on your county court's website (e.g., Rankin County).
