Can I Leave Without Getting Arrested
I am a 17 year old mother who works, goes to school. My son is 8 months old. I want to leave my home. I am not allowed to go anywhere. I have missed school for about 9 days now. My mother does not watch him anymore for me to go to school. She is Bi-polar. I just want to leave. Can I leave my house without getting arrested & having my son taking away from me?
I live in Indiana
Re: Can I Leave Without Getting Arrested
You are still legally a minor and under parental control.
You could only leave if you have your parents' permission.
If you leave without it, you could be reported as a runaway.
Re: Can I Leave Without Getting Arrested
Bi Polar or not your Mother is not obliigated to watch your child. This is the real world. When you chose to have a child so young you chose this outcome. What makes you think living on your own will change things so you can go to school? Yes you should be in school but you have a child and that child is yours (not Mom's) responsibilty! Can you leave home without consent no you cannot but Law Enforcement may not be eager to drag a 17 year old home just to see him/her leave again or turn 18. Just how did you plan to pay rent, food, utiltiies, gas, health care, diapers, childcare, phone, cable, internet? To name a few. You decided to become an adult at too young and now its time to act like one. The child is yours to care for not your Mother's

I have a family that is willing to take me in. I will turn 18 in August 2008.
I am and have taken care of my child. I have both hands tied behind my back. I am trying to grow as a parent, and my parents are prohibiting me from trying to be an adult and raise my son on my own.
Re: Can I Leave Without Getting Arrested
As you were told you are under parental authority until your 18 or given consent to leave. by the way having another family care for you and your child is not growing up. Look into online courses you can take and get your GED or equivelent. That should resolve school issue then in Aug 08 you can live where you choose have your High School education behind you and can move forward
