Civil Demand After Sentencing
I was charged in Jan 2007 at Nieman Marcus in CA and I refused to sign the papers at the store. A month back I pleaded no contest. I never got any civil demand from the store. Is it because I didn't sign the papers when I was charged? Store restitution is not part of my court sentence.
Will I receive civil demand from the store now? Do they wait for conviction to send civil demand if the defendant didn't sign the papers?
Thanks.

No one can answer whether or not the store will send a civil demand letter.
It is possible now that you have plead no contest that they may pursue it. However, pleading no contest doesn't mean you admitted guilt, only that you did not want to contest the charges against you. If the store chooses to make a civil action against you, they still would have the burden of proving that you did in fact shoplift.
