Emancipation
i live in the santa clara county
my parents keep threatening to send me away to boarding school (the phycological one) even though i am not in any trouble with the law, and am getting good grades at a top highschool
i am current 15 1/2, turning 16 soon..
In order to move out and live with my friend's family, or my sibling do i have to become emancipated?
my family is wealthy, and if i do chose to move out, is there any way to require them pay child support of some sort? I dont feel that its fair that they are willing to pay 5-10k a month for a boarding school but if i chose to move out i get nothing...
I am not asking if its possible for me to get emancipated, they already said if i found a family willing to take me in and support me, then i can leave as long as i do the right paper work. Is the right paper work emancipation or adoption?

Re: Emancipation
Your family can let you live somewhere else, in a suitable environment. You don't indicate that you qualify for emancipation (and your post suggests that you do not). Adoption would be overkill, and I doubt your parents would agree. (That would end their rights as your parents, and make the friend's parents your legal parents.)
You may be able to get by with a power of attorney, but you'll need to check with the school where you will enroll as you may need the new family to have a court-ordered guardianship to enroll you. Unless it's a private school, that is, or your parents are willing to pay the tuition for a public school.

Re: Emancipation
That will depend on the specific district's policies.
