What Happens After A Shoplifting Complaint Is Made
My friend was caught on camera stealing from a stop and shop grocery store in NJ the police and security guards took her in a room took the items and question her took ID and social security info adress.
for Id she gave a valid learner permitt for NY..but she actually lives in NJ,wrong social was given too,she has a valid NJ driver liesen which she did not show.
the police did not give her any ticket or make her sign anything she was told to leave the store and not come back and to expect something in the mail...however they mad a complaint, she actually called the police precent to see if they had her in there records ...and found out that she was.seeing that a complain was made would they send her a notice to come to court? what do you think she should do now to clear that up.
it's her first and LAST mistake ...the stuff that she stole came up to like $136.00 she is scared out of her mind now please give some advice

She lied about her address and Social Security Number to the police? Is she able to receive mail at the address she used?

Providing false infomation to a law Enforcment Officer will gain additional charges. I would strngly urge you contact both reatiler and Police of the error. You should also consult with a criminal defense Attorney
