    Joint Petition For Green Cards
My cousin got married two years ago in India. She came to the states as a dependent on his H-4 visa. We were told that he applied jointly for their green card. They both received their EAD cards a few months ago, and we are of the understanding that her EAD is dependent on her marriage. Now they are going through problems and are thinking about getting divorced. Her husband told her that he received his green card, which he has in his hand, but hers is still being processed, and that her status is still dependent on him. However, if they applied for the green cards jointly, shouldn't they receive their green cards together??? I fear that he is lying to her/holding her green card as a bargaining tool in their divorce, and that she does actually have permanent status. Is there anyway that her status could still dependent on their marriage?

She should use the online case status service to verify the status of her application.
