Charges Filed For Misrepresentation Of Age
(Michigan) Can charges be file or can one sue a minor girl(14) for lying about her age in order to have sex. this girl has done this many times and currently has ( 2 ) 18 year olds in jail for csc charges. I understand that the guys should have had more sence but i feel that these young girls should also be held accountable for there actions.

The men can TRY suing her, but I doubt she has any money to even pay their attorney's fees.

This is why people need to DATE before they hop into the sack ... they get to know one another and then this klind of thing would not happen!

Oh, and having once been a teenage boy, I can tell you that the guy has a good idea about the girl's age even if he tells her something else. It's simply a "don't ask, don't tell" thing with young and dumb guys.

They can try and fail. You don't get to sue the victim, just because you got caught committing a crime.

In the eyes of the law, he was not a victim.

Anyone can sue anyone else for anything. I doubt he will win, though. And even if he could somehow win, what would he win? Her allowance?

Money is not what is wanted. I feel she should have some consequences for her actions (after all she was involved also) How about probation , community service, detention etc. ( Is she going to just be left to continue lying to guys then putting them away ?

Civil court cannot apply probation OR community service.

She is a child ... she can lie to guys ... guys need to think first and unzip their pants later. A little common sense can go a long way. Come on ... these guys knew her age or suspected it, they just did not want to admit it. Or, they didn't care. When the blood gets boiling, they stop thinking. Bad for them.

He can consult an attorney for advice on a civil suit, but it's going to cost him a good chunk of money for the slim possibility of a moral victory in civil court.

Most states now have explicit language that specifically addresses that the responsibility lies entirely with the adult in the situation - and that ignorance of the age of the minor isn't a defense (even if they lie). Remember, in the eyes of the law, minors are "disabled" - they do not have the recognized ability to give consent to sex, ergo, whether they lie or not, ANY activity that results in sex with a minor isn't going to get pinned on them. Can she keep lying about her age? Yep. Will guys who are thinking with the wrong part of the anatomy keep buying it? Yep. But don't think that she won't get some consequences of her own at some point, whether it be a STD, an unwanted pregnancy (or more), or the myriad of escalating emotional and mental health problems that often occur for girls who engage in this pattern of behavior. Obviously if she's out sleeping around at 14 and has 2 or more guys in jail, her parental guardianship obviously is sucking wind and there are much more complicated and long term issues going on from her side. You are nieve if you think this course of action will result in a walk through the park for her.

Teenagers are able to fool adults 75% of the time. Or so I have heard. Maybe the next guy will see past her lies.
