Car Repo'ed Despite Oral Agreement, in Tennessee
My daughter was off work one month for surgery. The day she returned to work she was fired for poor performance and new people were already hired.
The real problem came when Honda finance sent a repo guy after her new acura. She had talked to them on the phone about getting a settlement where she had to sue former employer about illegal loss of job . They agreed to wait but repo guy came. She got the settlemtent two days later. Repo guy still had her car. She tried to get her car back and offered them 5,ooo dollars but Honda said No. they wanted 19,000. She didn't have it, so they kept her car. Now they say she owes them $9,000. They are threatening to garnish
her wages at new employment. Is there anything that can be done. Honda knew she was in the middle of a law suit to recover lost wages. Three counts of fela laws were broken. She had a verbal agreement with them to wait. Can anything be done.??? Tennessee
Re: Car Repo'ed Despite Oral Agreement, in Tennessee
Odds are the repo order had already been placed when she finally got in touch with Honda finance. I also very much doubt that there was any agreement to wait on a possible settlement from a lawsuit - your daughter probably misunderstood. How long ago did this occur?
She owes them money, so it is no surprise that they're trying to collect it.
Re: Car Repo'ed Despite Oral Agreement, in Tennessee
She had an emergency hysterectomy in Dec. 06. Was let go in Jan 07.
Lawyer got settlement because they proved the new supervisor wrong.
The settlement was to start paying first week of May. She talked to Chase
about her home and to Honda about her car. They both were working with
her. The woman from Honda finance left for two weeks, the same week that her first check was due to come in. That is when it all went down.
The repo man still had her car while she was offering them $5000.00 to get it back.
Chase did wait on her house payment and she praises them for it. Now after Honda says the Acura was auctioned they say she still owes $9000.00. But if you doubt what I am saying in this post, I guess there
isn't much use in writing anymore. I just know that she has learned if you
ever finance an auto it should be with a local credit union or bank. She is a single mother and was doing everything she could not to lose that car.
She believed someone there at Honda or she would have done something differently.
