Can A Shoplifting Charge Be Filed Even If You Are Not Stopped And Leave The Store
    Hi,

The topic says it all. If LPs suspects and watched either by person or by video, but the suspect was not detained nor stopped, can they still charge for shoplifting after leaving the store?

I thought I was being watched, and ditched the items. Actually, I am pretty sure I was followed and watched. Just wondering if charges can be filed afterwards. I used my credit card for some purchases so surly, they have my information.

    Any comments are welcomed.

Yes, it happens a lot in cases were they saw a person steal, but the person got away (with the items) by running or driving away in a car.
They would use the car plate number or the credit card used to track you.

But, If you ditched the items (inside the store), I wouldn't worry about it. But if you go back in there, they may watch you, to catch you next time you steal.
