First Offense Minor in Possession, in Texas
    Heres the situation:

I am a 16 year old Junior in high school who had a big party last night and my neighbors called the cops on me. When the cops came the house was trashed and there was alcohol everywhere. I told the cop i had not drank any (i really did not) and i think he believed me, he didnt test me or anything. He called my parents up and gave me a ticket for MIP (Minor in Possession) and now i had to go to court in a month. This is my first offense and i cooperated very well with the cop and he seemed to understand. However i wanted to ask if this will be on my permanent record because i am an all A's honors class student and many colleges wont take students with a police record. Also i v heard of a teen court, how can i find out if there is one in my city? And would i be able to erase this off my permanent record if there is a teen court in my area? I live in Katy, Texas for those that care.

Im really freaking out, thanks to anyone that can help.

If you have no priors and are convicted of this offense, you will receive 30-day driver's license suspension. You are presumably facing this charge in juvenile court, which makes your record less of an issue than adult court. If you don't commit any additional criminal offenses after you turn 17, your juvenile record will be subject to "automatic restriction" when you turn 21 (details here). You can also seek to have your records sealed or destroyed, but that process is more complicated.

If you can avoid a conviction through teen court or a similar program, you should explore that option. Check your county court's website or ask a local criminal defense attorney.
