There's no statute of limitations on a probation violation.
Thanks Aaron. So, what are my options? Am I screwed in all the states? or just Texas?
My guess is you have been entered into the nation wide criminal database (NCIC) and will be picked up for something as simple at running a stop sign.
I don't know if Texas would put out an interstate warrant for your offense, but I can't personally check the status of your warrant.
When does that wear off?
How do I check ont he status of my warrant? Can I do it myself?
Also,,, as SecurityConsultant said,,, I could be picked up for running a stop sign. What about leaving and entering the country?
You could conceivably be picked up in any encounter with law enforcement.
It doesn't wear off. It will stay active as long as the issuing agency doesn't remove it from the system (which happens automatically via the locate process as soon as you are picked up, or they purge records - which for most agencies happens as part of a monthly validation process when the warrant reaches the offenders date of birth + 100 years). You can check the status by calling the department that issued the warrant or your probation officer.
ACT 1981, P.L.298, SEC.2. Amended by P.L.2-2005, SEC115
IC 35-33-2-4
Expiration;reissuance
Sec.4. A warrant of arrest for a misdemeanor expires one hundred and eighty (180) days after it is issued. A warrant of arrest for a felony and a rearrest warrant for any offence do not expire.
"IC" = "Indiana Code". This question is about Texas. The question also involves what that statute would apparently deem a "rearrest warrant".
What about entering the country? Will I be picked up at customs? This is terrible.
It's possible, particularly if you enter through Texas.
Any way to know for sure? And, what happens when I get picked up, if that were to happen? Continue with the probation? or sit in jail?

Try it and see what happens. Then you'll know for sure. (And yes, that's the only way to know for sure.)
Mr. Knowitall... funny... but not laughing...
I have managed to stay GONEGONEGONE for years now. Can continue this way ...
After crossing in and out of the country many times, I can say that border patrol will catch you. You have to fill out a declaration form and provide your name. They do the background check and you're gone.
A PV is a minor issue, why not resolve and be done with it?? Seems easier than running and then when are caught, you'll sit while your PO decides what to do with you and then you'll have to go through that. Too much hassle, just give in, give up, and get on with your life.
