Can I Get Welfare?

Im 17..turning 18 in May... living in nj

my moms kicking me out and i will be staying in a motel room which i cant really even afford even tho i am working fulltime.

im almost positive dyfus or monmouth/ocean cares will give me any resources. ive dealt with many times before and have had nothing but trouble.


i was wondering since im going to be staying on my own, could i get welfare at 17 or if there any resources for me to get help

Your mother cannot legally kick you out of your home, as you are a minor. She has the legal obligation to provide for you.

Contact CPS (or whatever alphabet soup applies).

well under circumstances...she cant really provide for me anymore..shes getting garnisments out of her paycheck, her bills have fallen way behind and she tried for welfare but she grosses to much money...i provide pretty much for myself anyways.

our lease is up on our apartment and she too will be living in a motel until she gets herself together.

Then contact CPS anyways so you can get proper care

I agree with the others, please report the problem to CPS.

A minor cannot apply for welfare. Also, and I'm sure I'm not alone in my sentiments- I do not want to support a minor living on their own through welfare.
