Embarrassed and Confused Over Employee Theft
So. I was laid off at work a few weeks ago for budget purposes. I worked as an assistant Manager of a property Management company.

Today, I recieved my last check and a letter from my regional manager confronting me about a document he found on my work computer which suggested that I had taken office supplies. The truth is, I did. But I honestly had every intention of returning the items I took, thats why I wrote the information down.. It seems so stupid now... Incriminating.. I don't know. Anyway the point is, my first thought was to write an apology and send him a check to cover the missing items. But then I thought that the document he found was.. vague. If I sent a letter of apology, that would be a confession, and he could feasibly press charges. (even though it was literally 3 office items, totalling approx. $24)

Anyway, I'm kind of in a pickle, Because I honestly pride myself in being a "good person". I've never done drugs, or "stolen" until now. I really want to send the apology I wrote, because it would put my conscience at rest And I can go on with my life continuing to be a good person, who has never stolen- but once barrowed and paid her employer back... anyway, I'm scared that might make things worse for me, because my boss is kind of.. I don't know, two-faced. I could see him pressing charges over something like that... What should I do?

If the items were borrowed and you intended to return them, why haven't you returned them? Why aren't you presently considering returning them?
