    Eviction After Non-Payment of Rent
I am from Indiana. I recently lost my job and my husband and I have 3 daughters and a grandson that live with us. We went to our landlord and explained the situation and explained that it would be another 4 -6 weeks before I would know anything about my unemployment and asked him to please work with us. He told us we had till the 10th to get our rent in, if not he was going to start the eviction process. Well of course we didn't and now according to him we have a court date on the 25 although we have not received anything from the courts. Can he evict us with the kids since we are only a month behind.

Were you give a pay rent or quit notice? Also just because you havent seen court papers yet doesnt mean they ar eno coming. You need to be served. There is no way out of this its best you leave now before evicted. If eviction goes through it will be very tough to find new rental. You should laso consult with a landlord/Tenant Attorney who is familar with local laws on this subject.

Check with your county to see if you qualify for emergency housing assistance.

Yes, if you don't pay your rent, you can be evicted. Your landlord is not a charity.
