How Can I Get Out of My Lease
I have an apartment in Ohio on a college campus and due to some circumstances (unrelated to the apt. itself) i want/need to get out of my lease.

Is this possible? And would I have to pay for the rest of the term? Would my roommate be responsible for paying all of the rent? I really have no idea about any of this stuff.

Thanks in advance for the information/help!!

You can try to negotiate terms for your release from the lease with your landlord and roommate, and try to find an acceptable substitute roommate to take over you room and share of the rent.

    Options for Lease Termination...
In attempt to offer you some sort of salvation:

While I don't profess to be familiar with the guidelines of whatever state you currently take residence in, it is of my hopes that you can take refuge in the following:

    1. Most rental policies have an AMG clause (it is indicative of Apparent Mold Growth) - while, I'm not recommending that you adhere to this, it does serve as an option (of course, in this case ALL rentors in your unit would be required to evacuate the premises)

    2. You can always consider locating another roommate to fill your void (as mentioned by Mr. K); of course in a situation such as this, Management will obtain the new rentor's credit as a normal procedure, the only difference in this circumstance would be that this tenant would be moving in merely to continue the leasing term from the date of your move-out. Anything determined upon lease expiration, would at that time, be between your Landlord and the other tenant(s).

    3. Pay the fine. This may sound a bit harsh, however, Landlords possess the capability to waive certain fees and/or decrease the amount of fees in regards to lessee lease termination.

Hopefully you will find these items to be of assistance and Good Luck ~
