Illegal Married to a USA Born Citizen in Nevada
Hello.
I came to the USA 7 years ago and overstayed my turist visa. I am now married to a USA born citizen for two months. I used a valid Florida license when we got married in her native state of Washington. Now, however, that license is expired. I have worked before under the table, but since I've never had neither a real nor a fake Social Security number, I haven't paid any taxes. I've never commited a felony or being arrested in my time here. I went to high school and graduated (I don't know if that helps). I met my wife 2 years ago and fell deeply in love with her and now we are looking to adjust my status so we can start a family.
My question is, do I have a chance to adjust my legal status without leaving the country?
Your answers are apreciated.

You had better seek to adjust your status without leaving the country. With your overstay, leaving is likely to result in a ten year period of ineligiblity to reenter the United States. You entered the U.S. legally, so you should be eligible to adjust your status.

That's good news. I have a meeting with a lawyer tonight, so we are gonna discuss my options.
My biggest fear is that I had worked in the USA before but didn't pay taxes (since I worked under the table) is that a factor at all on this process?

What do you mean by that?

Hehe.... Yeah, I understood that.
We'll see what the lawyer said and I'll probably post it here, in hope that it might help other people.
