How Does a 16-Year-Old Child Get Emancipation

Hi, My son's girlfriend is 16 & she has been living with us since the end of April 2007. She tried to go home 3 or 4 times. And would be kicked out the next day. I have applied for her fam allow to help me support her in anyway I can. She wants to be emancipated from her mom. Her mom has also slapped her in school in front of her class mates. She doesnt get along with her step father & the mother doesnt believe anything that the daughter has told her about the way the stepfather has treated her. Recently this girl had been attacked by a 20 year with a cooler bottle.
And we are wanting to press charges. Well the mother heard about it and wants to try take her daughter back home. The daughter wants nothing to do with her mother at this point & want to be emancipated from her.

How do we go about this??? I also need to know how else I can get more support from some aid or something for her living with me. As i said I get her fam allow, but is there anything else I should be able to apply for to help pay for her medical & dental. I am a status native & she is not.

She is going to need some dental work due to the assualt she recieved from the 20 yr old girl..

If she is being abused and you want state assistance, check with child protective services to see if they can assist you.

Well I would say she was abused in a few ways by her mom, neglected by her mom, and verbally abused by the step father.

I assumed when you said you wanted "support from some aid or something for her living with me" you were hoping for a check from the government.

sorry.. yes I would like to be able to give her all she needs.
I have supportes her so far. But I also have 3 other kids. So it would just help with her.

And with her emanciaption I would talk to child protective services too??

If you are supporting her, she does not qualify to be emancipated.

ok, can her Mother get her from us if she doesnt want to be with her mom?? If she is afraid of her mom.

Also I would like to know if she does not want to go home to her mother because of how she may be treated by her mom & step father.
And she is 16. How can I be a leagal gaudian?? What do I need to do??

I really just want to do what is in the best interest of this child.
