Should a Lawyer Have Been Appointed
I was charged with possession of illegal fireworks about 2 years ago while i was in a "dirt field" riding dirt bikes with my buddies. The cops showed up as we were lighting the fireworks and we got cited. Long story short, they gave us 1 count of possession of illegal fireworks and discharge. When we went to court, they normal judge was not at the court room so they had a sit in judge. When they called my name to enter a plea, i pleaded guilty because i didnt know any better. My question is, do they have to appoint or ask if you need a public defender or not? I was never instructed on my options that i have. thanks for your time

Did you request a lawyer?
Courts typically inform you of your Miranda rights as part of the process for entering a guilty plea.
