7411 And the NICS
In Michigan I am currently working towards completing my 7411 status. I also just finished my CPL (CCW) classes.
I want to be a law abiding citizen by covering all bases since I am a gun owner, both handgun and rifle. I figured the best way to do this is by applying for the CPL permit.
During the course of the class I applied for a purchase permit for a new handgun. I recieved all the necessary paperwork from my local police department without a hitch, proceeded to my local gun store to purchase a gun I had previously selected, and was denied by the NICS check.
I have recently contacted the NICS for the reason of denial and I am awaiting their response.
My questions are;
How will 7411 affect me and my rights to bear arms?
Will I be able to purchase a firearm ever again?
Am I in violation if I decide to go hunting this season?
By being in possession of a firearm(s) am I in violation?
Will I be able to successfully apply for a CPL? (concealed pistol liscense)
Thank you for any information you can provide.

Re: 7411 And the NICS
This is 7411 for a misdemeanor drug offense or a felony drug offense? If you're on felony probation, I can't say that I'm surprised that there was a denial.
In terms of possessing weapons while on probation, talk to your probation officer.

Re: 7411 And the NICS
My charge was a misdemeanor charge for POM(possession of marijuana). I was unaware that 7411 was available for felony drug charges. Huh. I have non-reporting probation with monthly tests. I have no probation officer.

Re: 7411 And the NICS
Simple possession of cocaine, for example, is a felony, but it is 7411 eligible.
