The "Kelly" story

When I first came to this site (and others) there was necroposting by someone everyone calls "Kelly". Now I have since learned to look at post dates ( I miss a few) before posting especially on family related topics. What I am interested in knowing is Kelly's story. Who is she? Why does she spend so much time posting under so many names? What is her motivation? How can you tell its her other than necroposting? In other words just for my own curiousity what is her biography?

I don't think there is a story or that "Kelly" is a person. I think it started on another forum a couple years ago. It is a joke about someone the group doesn't like and they call that person "Kelly".

That website appears to be a group of women who have formed a click and they don't let anyone become a member without going through hazing.

The adm is afraid of the group and pretty much lets them have free range on anyone they single out. One of them came to this site, started that Kelly business but it did not go over very well. It could be that person does the necrotising, claims it was done by Kelly, to create a flame war on another forum.

So answer to your question, I don't really know but my guess is the whole thing is a joke started on another forum.

Kelly is a real person...There was a link to a newspaper article but I can't find it. Kelly is Kelly Abernathy of Texas. When she came to this forum I briefly tried to warn the members of her games that she has been playing at other forums. She lost custody of her children due to severe contempt of court and that is her reason for trolling these sites ...She is a nut.

BTW: If your comments are to imply that I am Kelly..You are dead wrong. She was posting at "that" forum LONG before I came on board. Admin is responsive to our reporting of this troll...They are not "afraid" of their members. Admin doesn't want a nut like her posting regurgitated crap on their forum. Admin at this site has also been very responsive to reporting. The IP address is Texas..Not Massachusetts.

I meant what I said about not really knowing the story. I wasn't thinking about you when I made my statement about the necrotizing. If I remember correctly that name was something like Shain??

But I thought I had asked you once before (about a hoax) and you told me specifically that it was not you who had made a comment on the forum about Kelly and I believe you.

It appears there is some history about this person which I don't know about.

I try to answer questions if I know them. Probably everyone enjoys learning and doing some research. I can't stand it when someone asks a question and then they keep changing their story in the thread Then they claim they're confused and call you names for simply repeating what they said. :rolleyes: (sorry to hijack, Panther)

I occassionally see the necrotizing (btw necrotizing fasciitis is a medical term). It doesn't bother me. It reminds be of a streaker- someone who runs through every so often wearing their scivies! :)

There is a "Kelly", in the sense that there is in fact a person who trolls forums to dredge up old threads, although I have no idea whether or not that's her real name. She seems to relish having people complain about her posts, and I believe that the complaints are her primary motivation in dredging up old threads.

So it's not that she/he makes up bogus situations and asks for advice?

No, that's true. Each new ID posts an inquiry about a legal situation. Their age, gender, the facts, etc., are wildly different each time.

I am not Kelly, Bay is not Kelly,.........Kelly was on freeadvice way before we joined.

She is easy to spot, and basicially every forum has to put up with her mental illness.

OK. So the deal is if someone drags up old threads and necroposts we should just ignore them?

I assume we answer those questions unless it becomes obvious the person is not sincere. So how does one recognize a bogus question? :confused:

Example: "you have no say in this situation you not the mother and have no standing your hubby will loose custody" Or to a 3 year old emancipation thread where the OP was 16 when it was originally posted: "you have to do as your parents say until you are 18"

She uses stupidly similar user name all the time and uses no capitals and next to no punctuation. IF she actually posts a thread of her own the scenarios are all about some dead relative and adopting her brothers cousins niece or some such idiocy. She will then start posting on other thread that a distant relative has no standing to adopt ....totally contrary to HER OWN POST.

OMGLOL! I have seen some of those as you describe in the first paragraph and they make me laugh. Ridiculous! Like in the middle of the night someone sits in front of the computer and rubber stamps somthing that's been said months and months ago.

And I think I just observed someone's style in the second example. I can't find it right now but her name is/was angrygurl. That looked like a fake.

Exactly! As I said before, the internet just has to put up with her. Ban her, then you ban thousands, so it obviously is up to the Mod to filter the crap out.

All anyone can do is just point her out.

It IS possible to ban a specific IP address without banning the entire ISP.

But if the IP is variable, or belongs to a major ISP's proxy, you won't necessarily keep out a particular user but you will block hundreds to thousands of legitimate users.

I wasn't making a case, or suggesting that you do so; simply indicating that the possibility exists.

Besides, I thought IP addresses were computer specific.

When you use dial-up, you can get a different IP each time you connect. Even a "stable" IP, such as a cable modem, can periodically reset (and most service providers appear to force periodic resets of the IP number). Many ISP's (particularly dial-up) use proxies, such that an individual user connects through the proxy, and somebody on the other side may only see the proxy IP.
