    F1 visa and misdemeanor charges
    Hello there

I am in the greatest trouble of my life. I am a student in a US university and on F1 visa.

I was having an affair with a girl. But because of heavy misunderstanding that girl put me in big trouble.

I got arrested in the month of July. I have 2 misdeam. charges. The first one is 'Stalking' and the second one is 'Improper Phone Messaging'.

I am out on bail. I talked to the dean of the school. He realized the gravity and sensitivity of the situation and said that he does not feel that i was stalking the girl. And i can continue my education in this university. My tution fee waiver and scholarship are both retained.

But i still have court case pending. In the middle of August, girl filed for a court case requesting ' Protective Order ' on me. But Judge said that she does not have enough evidence which can show that i was really threatening for her. So the request for Protective order was dismissed.

But i still have court case pending for which i was arrested.

    My questions are :

1 ) How these 2 misdemean charges are going to affect my visa status ?

    2) is the fact that i have been arrested in the record ? And when i will apply for Phd (and or Job) then will it bother me ?

    3) what will happen if i won the case ? Will still the arrest be on my record ?

    4) what will if the girl drop the charges ?

    5) Does INS know about this ? School says that INS will not create problem because school has accepted me. It would be a problem if School had thrown me out from the school.

    5) At this point i dont know what i should ask to the people in this forum. Please tell me which i dont know.

    I am really mentally disturbed.

    Thanks in advance.

    Get a lawyer
You also expressed, "I forgot to mention that i dont have any previous record."

I suggest that you retain a defense lawyer to assist you with the charges or, if you cannot afford a lawyer, that you petition the court to appoint a lawyer to represent you.
