I have never heard of it taking that long! However what you can do is contact Kohl's and ask for number to their Civil Recovery Service

    (1) How to choose an Attorney ? One of them told me that if I worked with him, he will see who is the judge ? If the judge will not be of a kind who easily dismiss my charge then he will change the date and will wait for the another judge.
Should I trust him that he will be able to clear out my charge and I will not have any record after the court date.

    (2) Do Judge and Court look into person's personal background, family details etc to take final decision ?

    (3) Will I be allowed to talk with Judge and request him to let me go even if I hired my own attorny or only attorney will discuss my case ?

    (4) What kind of interaction I should do with DA during the court date ?

    (5) Should I contact court before the court date to know whether my case is really on that day ? Whom should I approach for that as I heard manytimes when you appear on your court date they say they dont have your file. And in that case, I can be arrested also if they do any mistake in handling my file. Any suggestion?

Dismiss charges!! If you fight for not guilty verdict an dlose (very likley) your chances of plea go down!

Yes so if you have prior criminal conviction this works against you.

You can but if you have an Attorney all coversation with judge should go through him. Request he let you lol!! the Da is not going to drop a slam dunk win!

An Attorney will cost much more than that. If you feel you cannot afford an Attorney request a Public Defender when you go to court and either not enter plea or plead not guilty

Re: Please Help Me Out in The Worst Situation of My Life
I talked with two attorneys and they said, their fees will be $300 for the entire case so till the final decision is made and they said court fees will be $120...Am I missing any point to discuss with them ?

I thought I will be paying $300 attorney fees + $120 Court fees + $500 Civil Demand = $920. I thought I will able to manage overall cost upto $1000. Also, if court will fine me to pay few dollars, I would like to request community service instead.

Am I playing wrong with cost data ? Any one with past experience of similar kind ? I have no previous offence and this is the case at North Carolina.

Nope, ne told me first $400 and then he said, $300. He also said if I get Civil Demad from Kohls then I need to forward him their letter. No need to ay anything as it's just to threatening me. I am confused..Should I trust him and his knowledge to handle my case?

Civil Demand is "State Law" what do you think your Attorney can really do for you on this other than take your money while you still pay! Furthermore if you fail to pay or pay on time the Civil Recovery service or Law firm can triple the charges. Continue to not pay or pay on time they can sue you and win! I would ask wha tit is this Attorney(s) states they will do for this $300.00 I am betting not much!

Hi..I didnt mention one thing that I am a greencard holder and will apply for citizenship next year.

    I read yesterday that

"A good criminal attorney, with little or no knowledge of U.S. immigration laws, will generally recommend that a client plead guilty to minor charges in exchange for a lesser penalty, such as probation. While such a plea may be wise for the typical U.S. citizen client, it can be a problem for a non-citizen. A guilty plea counts as a conviction with potential immigration consequences. There are also other possible arrangements, such as "probation before judgment," that may not be considered convictions under state law, but are convictions under U.S. immigration law."

so, what is my option ?
