Possibility of Charges for Evading and Eluding
This really isn't about being caught evading/eluding police but wondering if I could be charged with it.

I drive a red mustang cobra..during the day it sticks out like sore thumb and if it wasn't for my very advanced radar detector (beats the V1) I would have a lot of tickets..anyway at night is where the problem, or fun is, depends on how you look at it. We all know cops use the night for cover to trap those speeding, I use it to evade. Several times now while on the highway after dark with light traffic I've run across cops hiding in the grass with their lights off/car off, when I'm pack leader. My radar detector true lock on warning goes off (cop using instant on) and I see in the rear mirror them starting their car. I know I'm done as its clearly me they are after, thinking fast I do 2 things..1) put on my seat belt just in case they do get me, 2) I phantom shift into the slower lanes. The result is I see the cop speed ahead looking for me, kind of gets confused and slow down still looking for me..and then either goto a new hiding spot or turn around. so far this trick has been 100% successful for me, but I wonder when/if it does backfire can they tack on a bogus charge of evading them even though they never turned on their lights?

My best one was I was doing 105 in a 65...I knew I was caught when I saw the cop didn't even need to look at my radar detector...I managed to phantom shift to the slower lane, looked behind me saw him speed up looking all over for me, couldn't find me.. was right beside me, looked at me and went ahead for a bit and was starting to turn around when I caught up...he must have spotted my fog lights and started reversing it..I rolled down my window, flipped him off and shouted maybe next time dumbass, and phantom shifted again...he never bothered coming after me.

    Is this a serious question?

You really need to put your "The Fast and The Furious" DVD away.:wallbang:

You're not in love with a Maxima, are you?:p

Yes it is serious...just wanted to see that when/if it goes bad if im looking at other charges besides the speeding...I used to hate driving at night for this very reason that cops had an unfair advantage, until I learned to level the playing field.

And while Maxima likes to give cops shit...I like to make them look like idiots. I've gotten out of so many tickets durning the day by faking medical conditions, faking dying at the wheel, and got a 118 in a 55 reduced down to a 84 in a 65 by playing the veteran card. Most cops are nothing more than children with an inflated ego and if done right can be manipulated very easy. So while I think what Maxima is doing is funny, he is doing it wrong.

What is a phantom shift to the slower lane?

I was waiting for someone to ask that. A phantom shift is shutting off the lights of the car and quickly shifting to the slower lane (one lane over maxium, never multi lane hops), and putting the headlights back on. If you do it right your car becames "invisable" to the cop for 2-3 seconds while you shift over and slow down and by the time he is near you, you should be over to the slower lane, doing the speed limit. The result of a correctly done phatom shift is a very confused cop that goes back to waiting for his next ticket.

There are of course other factors to this..you need other cars on the road, being the only car on the road will void this unless you go for a stealth park but thats not this. It also only works on highways or other roads without a lot of road lights...too much lights will void the phantom or vanishing part of the trick.
