Desperate Mom Caught Shoplifting in Texas
I don't know why I did this yesterday. It's like worst nightmare EVER! My baby is due next month, I just feel moody these days. I went to Macy's to return something and ended up not returning it. I then browsed kids' section. I saw some cute baby's clothes and put it in my Macy's bag. I thought I wasn't seen by anyone. Unfortunately, I was caught by two securites after I walked out the store. They took my info, Driver's License, SSN, address, etc. They took a picture of me and asked me to sign some forms. I was banned to go to that store NEVER!They didn't call the police when I was there. They gave me a criminal trespass warning and a civil demand notice. I need to pay $325 fine after I get the mail in 2 or 3 weeks.
I am so scared for the whole day. I am worrying that they would call the police later and report this after I left. Is that possible? Will this affect my record or something? I don't know how to face my husband and my unborn baby. I feel awlful...I must go out of my mind to do this... Could someone tell me what will happen to me? If the police were not invovled yesterday, is it likey that they will get me later? Or I just wait for the mail and pay the fine and that's it?? Will I be fine after I pay the fine with no record on file?
I'm really desperate now, plus my English is not very good (I'm not a native speaker). My husband and I are applying for green card now, will this do any harm to the application?
Thank you very much!

Re: Desperate mom caught shoplifting @ Macy's in Houston,TX
They have until the statute of limitations runs out to file charges however that is very unlikely.

Thanks! Could you explain it in simpler English? Sorry my English isn't very good. What you mean is it's very unlikely that they will sue me, right? I'm not familar with Texas law about shoplifting. I hope after I pay the fine, this thing is over.

Thank you very much!
As long as I pay the civil demand, I won't be in any trouble, right?

Paying the Civil Demand does not gurantee they wont press charges but not paying would sure push them in that direction

So how long usually does it take for me to know if they press any charges?
Thanks again!
Re: Desperate Mom Caught Shoplifting in Texas
Since there is was no Police involved its safe to assuem there wont be any criminal charges unless you tresspass or fail to pay Civil Demand. However its not for sure until Statute of limitations runs out which I believe is about one year. Store has nothing to gain by pressing charges unless you fail to pay Civil Demand at which point they could file charges and seek resitution

Thank you for your time!
I remembered they said my info wouldn't go anywhere else. They will keep it in store. I can't go to that Macy forever, but other Macys I can.And I could never work for Macy. Does that I mean it won't go to police either?
Re: Desperate Mom Caught Shoplifting in Texas
They have no reason as of now to turn this over to PD for prosecution
