Store Promised Not To Call The Police. Are They Lying?
hi... when my inident happened, It was 3 month ago n i havn't heard anyhting from police since then. i shoplifted some cosmetics n go caght by a LP

The staff said. " IF I PAY THE FINE, THEY WONT REPORT TO POLICE"
and they did not call the police.

I wonder that when they say such thing, do they mean it most of the time, or they just wanna make the thing go smoother and later procecute you? im sorry if i seem to ask the same thing over n over,,but im really worried still..oh, and the place i got caught was in UK,,,so they might have much different prosecuting system and timeline?

Promise Not to Call the Police
You're taking that person at their word - they could be lying and call the police. But if they didn't call the police at the time, and you have not yet heard from the police, they probably are keeping their word.

so,,why would the LP lie? Isn't it much simple to call police right at the moment?

And, how do they make decision wether to call or not call the police?

Possible Lie by Loss Prevention Officer
They probably wouldn't lie. But it remains within the realm of possibility.

The decision of whether or not to call the police will vary with store policy, and with the discretion of the invidividual loss prevention officer.
