Paying Child Support
CALIFORNIA
The mother of my child has got married about 2yrs. ago. My(13yrs.) daughter lives with her mother and her husband. Now the mother wants me to give up my PARENTAL RIGHTS, so she and her husband can raise my daughter together. They don't want me to have any part of her life(I really have a relationship with my daughter).
If I give up my PARENTAL RIGHTS my EX's husband is going to adopt my daughter legally.
My question is, if I give up my PARENTAL RIGHTS and the husband adopts the child; do I still have to pay anymore CHILD SUPPORT? And if I don't have to pay anymore SUPPORT, do I still have to pay the the ARREARS(back child support) I owe.
I really never had any RIGHTS(no visitation,no nothing). I seen my daughter about 5 times of her 13yrs. I don't even know where they live. I always sent SUPPORT PAYMENTS to the DEPARTMENT OF CHILD SUPPORT.

Re: Paying Child Support
If he adopts then you will not have to pay child support but could still be responsible for the arrears. They will probably be willing to sign a waiver if you agree to the adoption. They can probably do it over your objections anyway.
