Legality of an Adoption Without the Father's Consent

My biological mom was 15 when she got pregnant with me, and her mother forced her to put me up for adoption, when I was born my adoptive parents took me to their house, and I have lived there even since, but I just recentally found out that when I was born my bio father was in prison, and he NEVER signed the adopton papers, and my bio mom didnt either! So I dont understand! was it legal or not?:confused:

It is possible that a court terminated the father's parental rights based upon his incarceration and inability to provide care or support. Given that it's been fourteen years, even if he were so inclined, I would venture that a court would decline to hear such a belated effort to overturn a long-settled adoption.

Do you have reason to believe your biological father wants to overturn the adoption?

My bio dad doesnt have any desire to be in my life(if he even knows i exsist), and my bio mom has been in contact with me for about 10 years now... but she just told me one day that she never signed the papers and neither did he... So, I wasnt sure if that was legal or not. . .

I would assume that's her adoptive mother.

If your biological parents have no interest in contesting the validity of the adoption, it's a non-issue.

ok here is the story from the beginning, I was adopted when I was born... neither bio parent signed the papers. I technically live with my adoptive mother (that I absolustly hate) I was wondering if my bio mother has any rights to me since she didnt sign the papers.. Because I either want to go live with her or get emancipaited because I cant deal with things at my adoptive mothers house.
