Re: Shoplifting (Pls help)
You should be fine as it appears they did not press criminal charges on you. Once you pay the Civil Demand the issue should be behind you
Re: Shoplifting (Pls help)
wat will the do with my pictures ....
they stapled it to a file but was told it will not be used for public display
Re: Shoplifting in Maryland
It goes with your file in a filing cabinet
Re: Shoplifting in Maryland
thank you for replying ....i m just really nervous
one last question
pressing criminal charge is when the cops are called right???
Re: Shoplifting in Maryland
Yes however if retailers wishes they can turn over case to PD and let them issue a warrant for your arrest. Thats very unlikely and store gains nothing from pressing charges. Just pay your Civil Demand and this should be all but a bad memory
Re: Shoplifting in Maryland
i called the LP to apologise again and he told me to pay the bill when i recieve it but i have up to a year to be charged..
he mention thats only if i trespass....
Re: Shoplifting in Maryland
Yes I would strongly advise you not to enter that store or any with same name again. If you are caught tresspassing they can then file the sholift charges if they wisd long as statute of limitations has not run out
Re: Shoplifting in Maryland
Asked to pay the civil Charge
will this go on my record
if my backgroung check is conducted......will it show that i shoplifted even though the cops were not involved
Re: Shoplifting in Maryland
There were no criminal charges brought on you thus no criminal record
Re: Shoplifting in Maryland

one last question....
when employment background is being conducted...
will they ever know.
thanks panther10758
u ve being helpful
Re: Shoplifting in Maryland
That depends some retailers input names of shoplifters into a database that other retailers can view. If thats the case then other stores can see your misdeed
Re: Shoplifting in Maryland
Kmart puts all shoplifters into a national database. If the place you apply to is a subscriber of that database, you will more than likely be denied employment.
No we can't tell you who has access to that database because we don't know, but it is a lot of retailers.
Re: Shoplifting in Maryland
Some stores submit only prosecuted shoplifters to theft databases while others submit every shoplifter they apprehended. So, from the point on, it's all a matter of staying away from that store and good luck.
