Out of State Visitation for an Infant or Toddler
Are there any rules or guidelines regarding this based on research? My son is 13 months. We live in FL...he goes to see his father in GA (5 hours away) every 3rd or 4th month. We have no court ordered visitation.

After his last visit, I had a hard time re-adjusting him to our schedue, life, daycare, etc. I am wonderig what is really in the best interest of the child? I have never kept his father from coming here to see him. (in fact I let him stay with us in the guest room) But he insists on taking him to his state where his mom/sister/etc all live as well. (but they could come here to see him) And his father was the one who chose to move away.

I am just worried how this is affecting my son. It is not a matter of games or not visiting them. I am glad his father wants to spend time with him. I can really see this last visit how hard it was though. He usually goes for 4-5 days at a time. Advice appreciated....

You can read the Florida visitation laws at www.flsenate.gov/STATUTES in chapter 61.
