16-Year-Old Teen Confused About Emancipation, in New York
i am 16 years old and have been having problems with my mother. i have tried to have things get better but it doesn't seem to work, i've left my house 3 times, except the last time. my mom told me to leave if i didn't like her rules. She called the cops later that night... My father has no room for me at his house, and my stepmom wouldn't allow me to live there anyways. I suggested living at a family members house, but my mother will not let me. i would not be granted for emancipation as my job does not pay enough right now, but i feel the only options i have to get out of my house is to get pregnant, which i do not want to do since im so young.
please helpppp asap! i dont know what i can do:(

Just how do you think getting pregnant will get you out of the house?

because she wouldn't want me to live in her house.
and even if she did, it would have helped me control my stress and not make me want to go out and do things that would jeoprodize my life. i just really cannot live with her anymore. she puts too much stress on me, and expects too much out of me.

You didnt answer the question why do you think getting pregnant will get you out of her home? If your being abuse contact CPS getting prgnant will not get you out of your Mother's home. she cannot throw you to the streets not to mention the possible illegality in getting pregnant at 16

Getting pregnant will make you more dependent on your parents, not less. As you note, you're far from capable of supporting yourself, let alone yourself and a child.

yeah but im sayin, idk what to do... is there any way i can live with a family member or does my mom need to consent on anything i do? I dont understand why she doesn't let me live with a family member, its not like im going to a friends where it would be a free for all...

Your Mom has "legal" authority over you and must consent to any home you live in.

i have not been abused. Like a little less than 2 years ago, me and my mom got into a fight, and she sat on me and like twisted my arm and stuff, but that only has occured twice. and hasn't in a year or so.
but my stepdad just stood there and watched.
Im not concerened about us getting into another fight, but she constantly stresses me out everyday, and its causing me to go insane.

You and several other million teens have that same view. The only way you can leave your home an d live elsewhere is with parental consent.

so what am i supposed to do? because my stepmother does not want me living with her and my father, and i dont get along with her nor my real mom. but i thought i had a choice of to live with my dad or my mom?

but its like my mom wants me to suffer, i've told her time after time, i dont want to live in her house & that its too stressful and i cant handle it anymore. but she tells me she doesn't really care..
