Transferring Probation To Another State
Hi,
I am currently on probation in the state of Florida for 18 months. I am currently in month 7. I am trying to move out of state, and I wanted to know if there was somewhere I could look up states that I can transfer probation to from Florida.
If I want to move to a state that does not accept Florida probationers, can I ask for early termination based on that fact?
Thanks.
Re: Transferring Probation To Another State
Generally you can always ask for early termination but it is not something usually done for sake of convenience and you normally must have a compelling reason for early termination. There is a Uniform Act on interstate transfer of probation--I don't think it is that difficult to get it done but if the State you wish it transferred to will for some reason not accept you then it will not be transferred.
Re: Transferring Probation To Another State
I was under the impression that certain states you could transfer probation from florida.(at least that is what my lawyer had told me at the time I got placed on probation)
Do you by chance know the name of Act you had mentioned above?
Thanks.

See if this link helps. It notes you can obtain this brochure which covers Florida probationers wanting to transfer their probation to other states. It is the Interstate Compact for Adult Offender Supervision.http://www.dc.state.fl.us/pub/ic/ICBrochure.pdf
