Reusing Someone Else's Legal Document
What is the name of your state? Pennsylvania
Is there any law preventing me from using a legal document that someone else has in use. To be more specific, I'm referring to a "Terms of Service" document on a website. The company in question is providing a very similar service to my own. I was going to basically cut/paste their document, obviously make the changes so that it refers to my company and not theirs, and maybe make a few minor changes/omissions. Then use it as my "Terms of Service" document. I was not sure if their was any legal reason I could/should not do this.
thanks in advance!

Re: Reusing Someone Else's Legal Document
The author of the document holds the copyright. If you look around, you will find a lot of common language and terms - there's a lot of "borrowing" in the creation of legal documents - but if you wish to use somebody else's work your best approach is to properly license it.
