Son Needs To Get Help For His Mother
I'm from VA. I'm turing 16 in 3 days and i don't want to be forced to get emancipated, but it's looking like one of the only options. Before i result to that I'd like to talk to a lawyer here that can serve my mother with a court order to get help. She needs to be on medication and needs a therapist. Can a lawyer help to make this happen, so that i won't be forced to become emancipated?

Why do you think that your mother needs medication? Where is your father?
Re: Son needs help with parents
My mom's been treated for depression before but she doesn't think she needs to take her pills anymore. My dads abusive and doesnt live here. So going there wouldnt help. I talked to her and told her we need to go to a family therapist appt., but she wont. Thats why I'd like to have legal action done to force her to, before i do anything drastic.

I agree with the others, CPS may be the way to go. Another option is to try talking to your school guidance counselor, If your school year has begun already.
Whoever you speak to be sure to tell them that your Mom has been treated for depression before. It's quite common for people suffering from depression to get help, begin meds, then when they feel better they stop all meds and Dr.s appts. Then when they start feeling depressed again they go into denial mode. This is what it sounds like your mom is doing and unfortunately she may not be able to recognize that she does need help. This is where family or friends can be a huge help, so talk to someone about the situation. If your Mom gets help it will also help you.
