Collecting Child Support When Child Lives in NY and Dad lives in Florida
    Hello ALL,
I am really in need of some help here. I live in New york with my daughter (where she was born) and the father lives in Florida. There is a current child support order that was filed in NY however the father is over $13,000in arrears. HE has been to court twice in Florida for failing to pay child support but he then writes a check for $400. and promises to pay or says he does not have regular employment and that is it. He owns his own car dealership in Florida. What can I do to prove he has income, owns a home/car, and to finally collect support? The process is that much harder because we live in two different states and because he is self employed.
Is there anyone out who can offer me concrete advice on what I should? He has made it very clear to me that he has no intention of ever paying support for our daughter.

Since he's been taken into court in Florida I'm assuming that both state's CS enforcement agencies are involved, correct?

If so, you need to contact the NY CSE and give them all info you have on his ownership of the business. The name of the business, address, etc. You can also do a deed search in Florida to see if the property is in his name. Each county has it's own webisite for that, so Google your ex's county court clerk site. If it's not listed there you can google that county's tax assesors office site. The NY office will forward all of the info to the FL DOR CSE for processing.
