Battery in a Bar in New York
I was at a bar in manhattan yesterday, with a friend. Left him to go to the bathroom and walk around the bar to see if I could find any other friend.
I was trying to get thru the crowd when these guys (about 3 or 4) knocked me down and punched, kicked me and everything else. I lost conciousness for a short period of time, don't know exactly what happened.
bouncers arrived and got me out of there, took me out of the bar and asked me (politely) to go home. At the time I was VERY confused due to the beating, and got a cab and came home.
Called my friend today, and he didn't see anything, he decided to leave right after I went to the bathroom, so he was not at the bar anymore.
My brand new iphone is missing. probably fell during the beating. I tried calling it several times today, no one answers. Called the bar to see if they found it, they told me to call back after 2pm.
I didn't provoke anybody, didn't fight anybody, was just "chosen" to receave a beat up.
I don't remember any of the guys (everything was very fast, and as I said, I lost conciousness for a while).
What should I do? Should I go file a police report? Should I go talk to a lawyer first??? I never ever dealt with this kind of situation before.
I was told the bar has cameras and probably has the whole thing recorded.
I am very bruised all over today and have a very bad back pain (probably because of the fall or kicks to my back). My elbow is also injuried.
Help please, what should I do!

Thank you,
friday I went to the hospital and then went to the police precint and did a report. THey just wrote in a plain piece of paper, and told me to call the day after to get the report number and detective name.
I called, got a number for the report and one for "aided report" (I don't know what this is). And I got a detective assigned to my case.
One thing is that I wanted my phone to be considered stolen, not lost, since it was with me and after the attack it wasn't anymore, and I called the restaurant and nobody found it. Someone (probably one of the attackers) took it for sure. They told me to "leave it blank" (don't select "lost" or "stolen") but I definatelly want it reported as stolen.
Should I go to the precint and ask for a review? Should I call the detective? Anything I should do?
The doctor told me the bouncers should have called the police and an ambullance. I could have had internal bleeding. The bouncers told me to "go home". If they called the police, the police could have catch the attackers. :(
Re: Battery in a Bar in New York
Have you tried contacting your service provider to see if there has been any activity on the phone since it went missing?
Re: Battery in a Bar in New York
I tried, there was none, but I think only because the phone had a password lock. So, whoever got the phone, is unable to use it (unless find a way to crack the password or reset the phone).
I contacted AT&T and (thru an automated system) disabled the phone (actually they only disable the SIM chip).
