Reinstating Permanent Residency or Starting Over
    Hello,
I used to live legally in the US with a permanent residence card, but a few years later I had to go back to my home country due to my fathers employment, when I returned for vacations my green card was taken away.... (I cannot recall any of this because I was only a child when this ocurred)...:wallbang:

I still have my social security number, but neither my green card nor the forms used to obtain it are in my posession.

I have searched everywhere on the internet trying to find where do I stand, I want to return as a legal inmigrant, but I ignore if my case is considered as "Abandonment of legal alien status" or simply as if I lost the green card and must renew it ,or even if I should obtain an SB-1 visa (returning resident)

Please help me, in finding out how to return to the US as a legal resident.

    Re: Where do I stand?
It sounds like it was treated as an abandonment of your status.

Do you have anything which could be used to identify your case with the USCIS? If so, contact them and ask.
