F Visas: F1 Visa and Shoplifting Charge

The good i tried to wal away with were $ 49.50. It was just one item and i returned it to them in a matter of hal hour, so this item was very well resellable. I got the civil demand letter in a weeks time asking me to pay the sum of US $50. I still havent got a receipt from the lawyers that sent me the letter.

I dont know if it is common that you dont get a receipt and i am planning to call the Lawyer's office to find out if they will send me an acknowledgement of the payment. can anybody tell me if we have to get the receipt in each and every case ???
