    2nd Degree Theft of Property
I was employed with a large retail chain for nearly four years when I stole an amount of money larger than $1000, but less than $1500. Not to excuse what I did, but my mother had died and I had to help pay for the funeral expenses and instead of turning to family and friends, I made a huge mistake. I admitted everything to the district loss prevention manager and was arrested, and then admitted everything to the investigators because I know I am guilty.

A week later I spoke with the DA and started petitioning for pretrial diversion and also went ahead and paid the company ALL of their money back. That was over a month ago. Since then I have heard nothing about a court date or anything. I need to know if this is normal?

Also, I am still close with many of the people I worked with, including managers. Many people have stated they did not believe any charges would be pressed (which is kind of moot at this point), and those who know charges were pressed, thought they would have been dropped after I paid the money back and because everyone knows the circumstances surrounding the theft was true.

How can I go about finding out if charges were dropped? The reason I ask this is because this is a VERY large retail chain and I know information does not always come down correctly or in a timely fashion.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can contact the courthouse, as panther10758 suggests, and check the status of your case and whether any hearings are scheduled in the future.
