Busted In California For Weed

Here's the situation. I got pulled over for a routine traffic stop. Then he suddenly pulls me out of the vehicle for no reason and searches me. Then he asked if I had anything in the car and I had about a lb. of weed. So I admitted it because I saw a K-9 unit coming already anyway. So can someone please tell me what I should do or if anyone knows of similar situations...I want to know what I'm facing and how much I should pay for a lawyer because they are usually overpriced. They are charging me with possession of marijuana for sale!!! PLEASSE SOMEONE RESPOND ASAP. I'D LOVE IT. THANKS!

Were you caught in a school zone?

You can do a Google search for lawyers that defend drug possession in your area and start calling around for what they charge for this type offense.

Health & Safety Code section 11359 is a felony. The maximum penalty for possession for sale is 2-4 years in state prison.

You need a lawyer to try to get a plea bargain for you.

This is not a small amount of marijuana and you need to consider how serious this charge is when hiring one.

You have no priors, so you have that in your favor. The lawyer may be able to find that the stop and search were illegal (but, you telling him about the dope, didn't help).
