MySpace Harassment

We live in Virginia and One of my friends created a fake myspace using one of his ex friends' pictures and posted her phone number along with some really vulgar comments about her (talking as though he was her). He never threatened her. People started calling her and the girl found it and is taking him to court for internet harassment. She printed out all of the pages on the site. Initially she thought it was one of his friends but he called the girl and told her upfront that it was him who did it and he deleted the fake myspace. My friend's pretty worried. He has no priors or anything like that, he's not under age or anything, he just did something stupid. He's really afraid that he's going to go to jail for this. I was just wondering what the typical outcome would be for this type of situation. Thanks.

Do you know the exact charge (statute citation) he is facing? Is this in juvenile court or adult court?

It is adult court. He is 20 and she is 19. He referred to it as "internet harassment" and said something about it being a misdeamenor 1. I'm not sure what else it would be referred to.

The maximum penalty "For Class 1 misdemeanors [is]confinement in jail for not more than twelve months and a fine of not more than $2,500, either or both." (Virginia Code §*18-2.11). If he has a clean record and enters into a plea bargain, I would expect him to be sentenced to probation.
