Effect of Criminal Court Diversion Program on Immigration
A year ago I was arrested in California for shoplifting. I went to court, I paid the fine and I was send to a diversion program. The judge told me that if I plead guilty, they will give me another opportunity with a diversion program becasue the charge will cause me problems with immigration, I will be in probation for 3 years and my record will be clean. If he told me this, it is going to affect my immigration statur?
Re: Effect of Criminal Court Diversion Program on Immigration
Any criminal activity can, quite justifiably, affect your immigration status. By not pleading guilty or being convicted, the odds improve that the effect will be minimal.
